Of all the stupid, tone-deaf things for Apple to do, they decide to release Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro on the iPad using a subscription model.  Ask Waves how that worked out for them.  I’m a big Apple fan, but this is a bridge too far.  Online, people are lining up to throw stones at Apple and to let them know: If they pull that crap with the Mac versions, people are gonna leave not just the apps, but potentially the platform.

Overreaction?  Not hardly.  These two apps are the biggest reason I’m a Mac user.  If I couldn’t run Logic, I suppose I’d have a shootout between Luna, Cubase, Studio One, and Reaper.  And all of those run on Windows.  Would they also consider moving MainStage to a subscription model?

This is a terrible idea and I hope it bombs.  FCP and LP sell Macs.  Make them subscriptions and you’ll lose Mac sales.  I know that for right now this stupidity is only on iOS, but I could totally see them moving.

Perhaps I should start playing around with Cubase some more.  You know… just in case.
