It’s not really keyboard news, but… well, the most valuable thing about Twitter was name recognition. And Elon is dumping the name.
I think this is George Lucas Syndrome in action. When George invented Star Wars, he created a multi-billion dollar property. He was super successful. When he decided to do three “prequel” movies, people lined up to see them. George surrounded himself with people who were afraid to argue with him. No one would tell him the truth. As a result, the dialog in the prequels was beyond horrible, and among serious non-fanboy movie fans, the movies are often made fun of. And yes, I do own all three movies. And yes, the dialog and some of the plot elements are horrible. But I’m a nerd. Anyway…
I suspect that Elon, who once looked like a brilliant business genius, has surrounded himself with people who are afraid to tell him when he has a bad idea. And since his ego is beyond massive, he thinks he’s always right. And he’s running Twitter directly into the ground with some of the stupidest business moves ever made. Huge ego, no one can tell him what to do, thinks he’s always right, won’t acknowledge facts, delusional… sounds like someone else I can think of.
Anyway, nothing to do with keyboards, but boy is this the dumbest move I’ve seen in a decade. The second-dumbest was when he took over Twitter and started firing people before he knew what they did. Twitter has had non-stop technical issues since he “took over.”
Can he possibly turn Twitter around by extreme mismanagement? Meesa no think so!
